The striking campaign design will feature a bus operating the iconic 333 route between Bondi and the City, chosen for its high visibility and strategic connection to key Mardi Gras festival locations. The initiative marks a significant collaboration between Sydney’s public transport provider and NSW’s leading LGBTQ+ health organisation.
“Public transport plays a vital role in connecting communities, and this collaboration allows us to connect them with important health messages too,” says Mark McKenzie, Managing Director of Transdev John Holland. “Our buses are more than just a means of getting from A to B – they’re a platform for positive change in our community.”
The specially-wrapped bus will operate throughout the Mardi Gras festival period and March (11 February – 31 March 2025), carrying ACON’s “Then and Now – This is Ending HIV Transmission” campaign messages to countless passengers and pedestrians along its route.
“Every day, our services help people across Sydney reach their destinations. Through this partnership with ACON, we’re helping important health information reach them too,” Mr. McKenzie adds. “This initiative reflects our commitment to inclusive public transport that serves and supports all members of our community.”
The campaign bus will operate regular services on the 333 route throughout Mardi Gras season, creating a unique combination of essential transport service and public health messaging. The route’s strategic path through key Sydney locations, including Circular Quay, Bondi Beach and Oxford Street, ensures maximum visibility during one of the city’s busiest festival periods.
“This initiative demonstrates how public transport can be a powerful platform for positive change,” says Mr. McKenzie. “As we connect Sydney’s communities, we’re proud to help deliver messages that can make a real difference to public health outcomes.”
